If you've ever tried to share an iPhone photo and been told the file "won't open", you've met HEIC. Apple saves photos in the HEIC/HEIF format to save space, but many websites, apps and Windows programs still expect JPG. The fix is simple.
Convert HEIC to JPG in three steps
- Open HEIC to JPG.
- Drop in your
.heicphoto. - Click convert and download a standard
.jpg.
The conversion happens entirely in your browser — your photos are never uploaded to a server.
Why are my photos HEIC?
Since iOS 11, iPhones default to "High Efficiency" capture, which stores images as HEIC. It's a great format — same quality at roughly half the size — but support outside the Apple ecosystem is still patchy. JPG, on the other hand, opens literally everywhere.
Tips
- Need the smallest file for email? Convert to JPG, then run it through Compress Image.
- Want to keep transparency or maximum quality? Convert to PNG instead with our image tools.
- Have many photos? Convert them one by one — it's fast and nothing leaves your device.
Is it safe?
Yes. Because everything runs locally in your browser, your personal photos never touch our servers. That's especially important for private images.
